Underrepresentation of LebaneseFemale Political Participants in the Media

Lebanese women in politics are underrepresented by the Lebanese media in comparison to male politicians. Maharat Foundation’s report noted that, in the most recent parliamentary election, the number of women candidates that appeared on Lebanese television stations did not surpass 7%, while 93% of the coverage was for male candidates. Moreover, Journalists are not interested in covering female politicians’ participation, as they only concentrate on male politicians' points of view. Moreover, the continued marginalization of women in politics by Lebanese media coverage was demonstrated when television media outlets did not support the first woman candidate in the 2022 legislative elections, Josephine Zgheib, although she had requested the media’s coverage for the starting  of her electoral campaign (Maharat & Madanyat 2022, 6-7).

This is a short video that consists of statistics about women in Lebanon, Women represent 50% of the population, 25% of the labor force, and 5% of the political field. I thought this video would show the drastic inequality of Lebanese women in the political field, further proving my argument.
