A TOUR OF HER OWN

We met our first changemaker, Kaitlin Calogera! She is an author and founder of "A Tour of Her Own," an initiative specializing in women's history and hosting tours of the sites that depict the history and role of women as we view American historical sites through the feminist lens. I think she started an extraordinarily purposeful and interesting tourism company that teaches in an engaging way where one is physically immersed in the history of women by attending her tours and discussing the often overlooked significance of women in the foundation and history of America.

An example of the uncovering of women's role in history and politics is the story of Eleanor Roosevelt, former first lady, and wife of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Through this tour, we learned that she was an inspiring figure that taught valuable lessons, as her quotes are engraved at the sites we visited. We learn that she was a significant support to her husband and played a political role in advising and was a changemaker herself.
