SOCIAL JUSTICE CHANGEMAKERS

We visited the Center For Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service (CSJ) at Georgetown University, D.C. This is a place where students, faculty, and staff unite through activism, advocacy, and community-based learning and research. The CSJ creates many programs that aim to cause social change and promote the engagement of the Georgetown community with the cause of social justice. A part of their mission statement says, “Georgetown educates women and men to be reflective lifelong learners, to be responsible and active participants in civic life and to live generously in service to others.” This is a noble pursuit that aligns with the values of a hoya in terms of being "people for others." The CSJ is a representative of what we are all studying to become since we specialize in foreign service and advocacy for a better, more just world. The CSJ successfully covers various communities. For one, as a group of students who traveled to D.C. from a Muslim country, hearing from a Muslim representative of the CSJ proves relevant and depicts the thoroughness that the CSJ exhibits in advocating for all minorities.
